PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 7 August 2026

Autism Kids Collective (AKC) respects your privacy. This statement explains how we collect, use, store and share personal information when you join AKC Whānau, apply for an event, donate, contact us or use our website.

WHAT WE COLLECT
We may collect your name, email address, mobile number, suburb or region, household and attendance information, details about autistic children or young people in your whānau, accessibility or sensory requirements, communication preferences, event participation, donations, and information you choose to include in messages to us.

WHY WE COLLECT IT
We collect only information we need to run AKC activities and services. This includes assessing and managing event applications, allocating limited places fairly, contacting selected and waitlisted families, supporting accessibility needs, recording attendance and future eligibility, managing AKC Whānau updates, processing donations, responding to enquiries, improving our programmes, and reporting de-identified community demand to funders and partners.

MOVIE APPLICATIONS
Submitting an application does not guarantee a place. Application information is used to check eligibility, run the household ballot, manage the reserve list, confirm attendance and apply the one-session-per-household rule. Donation information is kept separate and donating never improves a family’s chance of selection.

WHO CAN ACCESS OR RECEIVE INFORMATION
Personal information is accessed only by authorised AKC team members and service providers who help us operate our website, forms, communications, donations and events. We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information where it is necessary to deliver an activity, where you have agreed, where the law requires it, or where disclosure is needed to prevent or lessen a serious threat. Some technology providers may process information outside New Zealand under their own privacy and security safeguards.

STORAGE AND RETENTION
Information submitted through this website may be stored in Wix and connected AKC systems. We take reasonable steps to protect it from loss, unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure. We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably required for the purpose it was collected, AKC’s programme records, or legal and accountability requirements.

YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS
Joining AKC Whānau and receiving community updates is optional. You may unsubscribe from updates at any time. Under New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020, you can ask to access the personal information we hold about you or request a correction.

CONTACT
For a privacy question, access or correction request, contact Autism Kids Collective at info@autismkidscollective.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
